American-Palestinian Youth Released Following Nine-Month Period in Israeli Imprisonment

An American-Palestinian adolescent after completing 270 days in imprisonment by Israel without being charged gained freedom.

Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old at the time of his arrest in February in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, where he was visiting while residing in Florida under suspicion of rock throwing at Jewish settlers, allegations he repeatedly contested.

The US state department said it welcomed Mohammed's liberation.

Now sixteen years old, needed medical care upon gaining freedom, according to close relatives.

Family described him as visibly pale and thin, while battling health issues developed during imprisonment.

Through an official statement, the youth's uncle conveyed their "tremendous relief".

The uncle, Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" over the last nine months.

"Right now, we're concentrating on ensuring Mohammed receives urgent medical care he needs after being subjected to harsh conditions and brutal treatment throughout his detention."

The state department said it would continue to provide consular support to the teenager's relatives.

{"American leadership considers paramount to ensuring the safety of American nationals"," officials stated.

A group of American legislators endorsed a document to diplomatic officials and President Donald Trump, requesting additional efforts for his freedom.

The father, parent of four children managing a frozen treats business in Florida, previously said his child admitted guilt to throwing stones because the soldiers beat him.

He had not seen or communicated with his son since the arrest, learning information solely regarding the treatment via legal paperwork.

Mohammed was held without charge within Ofer penitentiary on the West Bank.

It is also home to mature inmates, some of whom have been convicted regarding severe security violations and murder.

There are around 350 Palestinian child security detainees being held in Israeli jails, per correctional service statistics.

Numerous remain uncharged while advocacy organizations, including UN bodies, say some have suffered abuse and torture.

After the teenager's freedom, the uncle stated relatives would persist in advocating seeking justice for their relative their cousin Sayfollah.

This young American-Palestinian who the Palestinian health ministry said was beaten to death by settlement residents following tensions in July.

Initially, the Israeli military said authorities were looking into accounts of a Palestinian had died.

Both young men collaborated within the family's frozen treats establishment in Tampa, Florida.

No indictments occurred with Sayfollah's killing.

"We demand United States leadership to safeguard our relatives," Mr Kadur said.
