Indianapolis Colts Face Falcons in German Capital – Week 10 NFL Action

Guten tag, fussball fans. How are you? Alles klar I trust on this fine early start to week 10 coming straight outta Germany. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be exact where at 8.30am CST/9.30am EST and 2.30pm GMT the mighty Indianapolis Colts (7-2) face off against the Falcons (3-5). The fifth game played on soil in Germany and the first in the nation’s capital.

Pre-match Key Moments

As sparkly jackets go that is an absolute belter from the Olympic figure skater on the coin toss. A minor slip from Sky Sports there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the commentator with an unfortunately hot mic.

Well, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have chosen to get the ball first. Daniel Jones and company will be setting up shortly. Can the quarterback recover after a rough one in Pittsburgh?

In a similar vein the vocalist performing the Star Spangled Banner has some of the biggest shoulder embellishments you are ever likely to see. The fashion picks are impressive today. We are almost underway after a choir performance for the national anthem of Germany. Classy.

First Quarter Action

Scoreless at 13:30 in the first

And we're off! And we have early drama after the Colts running back receives a short throw, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right then fumbles … only for his offensive lineman to recover the fumble with the recovery. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.

Still scoreless at 10:51

And the excitement continues as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The risk doesn't work out as the wide receiver cannot reel in a fastball from the quarterback. Prior to the failed attempt Jessie Bates put a huge hit on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. Atlanta's defense started strong as they try and snap their string of three losses. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!

Touchdown Recap

TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-0 Falcons 8:36, 1st quarter

Did Kyle Pitts just drop a touchdown? The Falcons player makes a crucial error, he was very open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That moment reflects the first round pick’s career to date.

So far, so disappointing but it only deteriorates for the Falcons as they turn over possession to the Colts on the 23-yard mark. Michael Penix Jr is sacked and can’t keep hold of the ball.

A nifty 22-yard run from Ashton Dulin sets the running back up to roll in for the score on the following play. Kicker Michael Badgley skews the extra point wide. Oops.

TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-7 Falcons 6:07, 1st quarter

Penix Jr puts the fumble behind him by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a touchdown. Drake London makes some chunky receptions to put them in the scoring area then the defense opens up for Tyler Allgeier to run untouched into the end zone through the heart of the field for 13 yards. The running back finishes it off for a one-yard touchdown of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
