Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Player Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the league office.
The team did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the second round.

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.
Rice's Recent Legal Issues
The receiver was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
On the field, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
